Jeff and Diana's Wedding
Well what a busy few days it has been. RJ's brother Jeff got married this weekend, to of course as the title states his wonderful fiance Diana. First hmmm where to begin...
So last Monday nearly a week ago RJ gives Jeff a call to figure out a few more details, only find out that Jeff is at that moment sitting in a hospital waiting room. Diana had been sick for the last few days, everyone thought okay probably tooo much stress, not eating properly, etc, its just gotta be a really bad cold. Oh no, they went to the hospital first Sunday she was discharged with some medication, only to go back in MOnday, with horrible stomach pain --- yep, it was her apendix (is that how its spelled, maybe two p's I dunno). So, ya first on everyone's mind, they are getting married in less than a week, she can't have a major operation. But she did. Monday night she went in and she then released Wednesday morning. Of course no expecting this to happen there is still a ton of things that to be done in the final week. And then there is the complication of if Diana will still be able to fit in the wedding dress, because of the bloating and just regular old pain of the operation. But no worries she did and she looked beautiful.
THURS - RJ and I left after work at 4pm caught the 5:37 train, but of course RJ's dry cleaning was not ready, do not use the company in the southdown plazza they are crap. But Rj asked his dad since they were coming out the next day, if he could at all pick it up. He did so no worries. We arrive in Whitby around 7:15 or so, Jeff was there to pick us up......but we were starving.....but he needed Rj to help him with a few more details. SO, they got me some food, and I joined RJ's mom Beth, Diana, Diana's mom and the rest of her wedding party who were getting their nails done in Beth's hotel room. It was a long night, Jeff and RJ returned around 10pm. Diana was soooo tired and just worn out from everything. Everyone's nails were not done until 1am phew. I did watch the wedding crashers again, so it didn't seem as bad being up from 7am until like 1am that night. Rj and I finally went to sleep once everyone left, we said goodnight to Beth and we were out. Next morning...
FRI - First thing, I got my nails, fixed up and painted they were in pretty good shape, so they just needed a little work and some polish. So we were going, and getting stuff done. We ate a little breakfast, nice hot breakfast at the Ramada Inn Long time stay hotel, gorgeous ever around there stay there, they are huge suite rooms, awesome. Anyways, Rj got his nails into shape, he will probably kill me for that. hehe Then we were off around 12:30 with Jeff, to run some errands - we went to the mall errrrr......christmas shopping, and horrible weather fantastic. But we got lots of stuff completed.......but there was more to come, isn't there always though. We get back to the hotel..........oh around 4......we all have to get reading for the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. We were running a little late, but so was everyone else, so we were good. That night we went to the this fabulous restaurant, called Cullen Gardens, they also have this mini village there, it was really nice..........good food yummy....it was a long day, and we were all sooooo ready to get back to the hotel. Rj arranged for a small card game so that Jeff would be able to stay busy, because hello its the night before he is getting married. So, we all hung out at our hotel room. Tim and Kirsti came over and so did one of Diana's cousins....so it was good they talked and kept him busy. Finally, we are all tired its 1am we need to sleep.
SATURDAY -- the wedding day. Rj was up soo ooooo early - they had to take all of the pop and liquor over to hall. So, Tim, RJ and Jeff left around 7:30am, they got everything over there, they ran to the sobey's to get more juice, then the call from Diana's maid of honour, she has forgotten something at their apartment in Oshawa.........ahhhh, they need to get their hair and make-up done..........so Rj drives Jeff down there, they come back, the platters and flowers need to be picked up. Its roughly around noon, when they get back, they both have to get ready, and leave by 1pm. the wedding is at 2. So, they are eating, and showering both within an hour and then back out the door. But they made it with plenty of time. I left a little after 1pm with Beth, Nick and Nanna.....so we were there by about 1:30. Everything was beautiful. Kirsti and Tim were already there. Tim was an usher and incharge of the music prompts during the ceremony. For all the running around prior to the wedding, it started on time. Everything was perfect. Including a little giggling moment by Diana when Jeff's dad (and Rj's) flashed his sign that said I do on the stage -- it was great. Soooo many people crying and just happy.
The day turned out really nice, but they were a little worried about Diana being outside and walking through the snow for the pictures, so they decided to stay inside. So, it was a 3 hour wait until the reception however the photos did take about 2 hours. THe reception began around 5:30 or so. It was a gorgeous room. Just enough space, not too big, perfect for the number of guests. I sat with Tim and Kirsti which was a relief because Rj was at the head table. It was a really goood turkey dinner with all the extras's and how can you go wrong with cheesecake for dessert hehhe. The night with filled with lots of dancing and great speeches, RJ's speech was sooooooooooo good -- he started off with, well I have known Jeff for 25 years, but when I first met him I couldn't open my eyes hahahhaha. It was good, everyone laughed tooo funny. We finally left the hall around 1am - we stayed to clean up everything, since Diana and Jeff actually bought all of the decorations they had to arrange a way for them to get home. So, we packed up everything. RJ and I drove Diana and Jeff home in Oshawa. And we actually did not get lost on the way back to the hotel in whitby. So we were back by 2am --- I think we changed watched tv for two seconds and fell asleep..............what a day.............but a great day.
SUNDAY - we woke up fairly early around 8am, we packed up and then headed down to Denny's and met everyone for breakfast. Diana and Jeff were catching the train around 11:30 am to head for Quebec city. So, we all had a good chat and an okay breakfast and then we were off. Rj and I got a ride from Nick so we were home by 12 and we even dropped off RJ's tux at square one, so we made great time.
So that was the weekend in a nut shell...........................it was busy and fun all at the same time!! So congrats Diana and Jeff !!
